Organisation

The SEFICROAM consortium consists 3 research organizations from 2 EU member states (Germany and Poland) and Korea integrating the different skills, competences and resources required for the tasks of the project. The institutions in each country have performed numerous research projects related to construction materials; this experience will have a synergetic effect on the project procedure.

The main objective of this project is to develop high-performance insulating materials using recycled aggregates from removal concrete that can reduce energy consumption and environmental pollution.

Korean partner from Yonsei University, will evaluate the thermal and mechanical responses of the recycled aggregates and the insulating concrete specimens using numerical simulations.

Partner from Technical University of Berlin (Germany) will generate a series of insulating specimens using different types of recycled aggregates as well as organic binders. They have extensive experience evaluating construction chemicals and the material properties of construction materials. They will also investigate the micro and macro characteristics and properties of insulating materials using micro-CT images.

Polish partner from West Pomeranian University of Technology, will investigate the microstructures of materials and composites. They have extensive experience in the micro- and nanostructure analysis using the XRD, electron microscopes (SEM and TEM), and spectroscopy materials characterization.

The research consortium is composed of these three main parts; each partner will perform their research under the leadership of each institution. Simple and straightforward organizational and decision-making structures and mechanisms are established (Figure 1).
